Why Choose Baby Steps GP
Our antenatal courses are designed and led by Dr Meg Woodrow, a General Practitioner with a background in obstetrics and gynaecology and knowledge that is up to date on latest guidelines. There is a focus on both physical and mental health and the ability to answer some of those more medical questions.
With previous lecturing experience, I feel competent at delivering the course in a well structured and balance way with a light sense of humour thrown in. I very much feel that my class created a relaxed learning environment, encouraging friendships, while gaining the essential information in a tailored interactive method.
Most importantly, I recently had a child (November 2023) so have been through this and can help share both my independent learning and lack of learning at the antenatal class I attended. It was the feeling of being totally unprepared when my son came, despite attending classes, that inspired me to develop this course and I will be honest and open and give both the good and bad truths. I do not want to deliver an ‘expensive way to make new friends’ that is the description many give a very popular chain of antenatal classes.
Unlike free NHS sessions, I will deliver a small group class in a very tailored, face to face approach, unless asked for otherwise. This allows plenty of interaction and socialising. I am also happy to run individual, personalised classes to meet any specific knowledge needs.
Finally, why spend your evenings when tired, pregnant and wanting to be resting at home, in a school hall till gone bed time learning tips and tricks when you are entitled to paid time off work to attend antenatal classes. For this reason my course is delivered during working hours in the week when you are more likely to engage with the learning and enjoy the experience.
